The History

The DS was known for its aerodynamic, futuristic body design and innovative technology, and set new standards in ride quality, handling, and braking, thanks to both being the first mass production car equipped with hydropneumatic suspension, as well as disc brakes. The 1967 series 3 also introduced directional headlights to a mass-produced car

The name DS is a pun in the French language, “DS” is pronounced exactly like déesse, literally meaning ‘goddess’,

This car was Imported from South Africa where it was first delivered in 1969. As a result of the dry climate the car has remained in excellent condition with a solid chassis and bodywork. It is advertised as a Pallas model and contains many of the upgraded features such as adjustable seats, extra trim and Pallas badges to the exterior, however as a SA car this is very hard to verify as they were different from the European cars. We also understand the car to have an engine and several other components from the later DS23 model.

The interior is in excellent condition and in keeping with traditional Citroen design. Most gauges are working correctly and appear to be accurate.

The paintwork seems to have been refreshed not too long ago, the buttercup yellow is a very good look for the car, complete with the contrasting roof.

The engine runs well and has benefitted from some minor work such as new plugs, rotator arm, distributor cap and wiring. It has been fitted with an electric fan and had a new starter motor fit, the original is still with the car and could be restored if deemed appropriate. The car has had a new modern battery fitted to ensure starting is not an issue. The wheels have been sand blasted and powder coated with new tyres fitted. We have driven the car for around 50 miles and had no issues.

Every care has been taken to check over the car however it is not being sold as a concourse car. This will be an excellent car for any enthusiast as there will be very little to do to get the car into excellent condition.

This really is a must see car, as soon as you test drive it you will be hooked!
